On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, SIX opened at Rialto High School, a musical performed by the advanced choir class, madrigals, as choir teacher Steven Rodriguez did not want to waste his female talent.
Every month, choir kids take a singing test in which they have to sing the first verse and chorus of a song of their choice. At the beginning of the year, Mr. Rodriguez took advantage of these tests by using them as both a grade and an audition!
SIX is a musical that tells the story of Henry the VIII’s famous six wives, Catherine of Aragon (portrayed by Alicia Heredia-Booker), Anne Boleyn (portrayed by both Audrina Torres and Jordyn Roberson) Jane Seymour (portrayed by Olivia Meza) Anne of Cleves (portrayed by Samantha Hernandez), Catherine Howard (portrayed by Vivian Varela), and Catherine Parr (portrayed by Sasha Burns).
Choir teacher Steven Rodriguez says, “My favorite part of directing this show was the fact that it was all female… My favorite part was working with the girls and seeing them come to life with the process, having a female lead with you in lighting, having a female backstage [crew], for me it was just one of those empowering things.”
SIX is a heavy, female-empowering musical that tells the wives' sides of their stories of marrying Henry VIII. Choir teacher Steven Rodriguez says, “I liked the fact that this was a woman production that had women that were telling their part of the story…it was just something that was all encompassing of what's happening right now and paying homage to all the females in my life.”
This musical featured many firsts. First-time performers, first-time director, first-time using the new mics, and first-time using LED lights on stage and around the house. First-time performer senior Sasha Burns shares, “It definitely was an awesome first-time experience, I think it's something that I would 100% do again, even though it was... very, very tiring.”
But during the making of SIX, the theatre was also staging the play Alice!, so many Crew Knights were doing double duty, helping both shows come to life with set design, lighting, sound, props, costumes, etc. Senior stage manager Dean Rubio shares, “It was tiring because even though I was assistant [stage manager] for Alice! I always put SIX first, and when I had the chance for a little bit of free time, I would go switch with Audrina [Torres] to be her assistant for Alice!, so there wasn't really much free time for me, myself, and I.”
