Taking the Helm: Meet the new editors

On September 14, 2026, Rialto High School seniors Aryan Hossain and Damian Ramirez were named the editors of the Medieval Times newspaper for the 2026/2027 school year. 

After submitting blind statements of interest, fellow students in the Journalism I class voted for Hossain and Ramirez. Blind statements do not show the student's name or include any identifying information, so students could choose based on the merits of the statements alone.

The Medieval Times editors will write the editorials on behalf of the entire staff and will help choose content and design elements. They will also speak for the Medieval Times staff when necessary. 

Hossain’s longtime interest in journalism makes the win more fulfilling, and while unexpected, he shares that it is “really cool” to be named an editor. Hossain was motivated to run by his interest in others and their writing. He shares, “I always loved learning about people; they are just so interesting.” He is looking forward to working with his co-editor, Ramirez.

Ramirez instantly knew he wanted to run for editor despite his initial doubts about being selected. Upon finding out, he “felt very honored and proud.” He’s always valued helping others and believes his “unique approach to things” will help him serve the position well. As a final note, Ramirez shares, “I promise to be the best editor I can be.”
