Trends We Forgot About

Trends come and go quickly. Social media has helped promote these trends too. Here are some trends from the 2010s that we may have forgotten.

Facial hair does not seem too special but in 2012 and 2013 it was. Mustaches were a huge trend in 2012-2013. Mustaches were printed on shirts, shoes, and backpacks. There were also mustache necklaces. People who went to extremes would also tattoo a mustache on their index finger! Why did we think this was cool?

Another trend we may have forgotten was the hoverboard. Hoverboards became popular in 2014 and 2015. Hoverboards are what would happen if a skateboard and a segway had a baby. These hoverboards often lit up. Even though they looked cool, they were actually pretty dangerous. Some hoverboards exploded and caused fires while others caused riders to hurt themselves when they fell off.

Silly Bandz were another trend that came to be in the 2010s. Silly Bandz were basically rubber bands that were in silly shapes. Children also wore them on their wrists. This trend was so popular among young children that some schools had to ban Silly Bandz to help kids focus in class.

This last trend is still somewhat popular to this day. Vine was an app that allowed users to upload six-second videos. Vine grew popular for the six-second comedy videos posted on it. Vine was similar to what Tik-Tok is now. Even though Vine was super successful, it was eventually shut down because of the lack of monetization.

We look back at these trends and feel nostalgic, and one day we will feel the same about trends that are happening now.
