The unmovable night

By the Medieval Times Staff

When senior Valeria Ramirez was 12 years old, she had just moved into her new home. Everything felt odd, especially at night. The house made different sounds and shadows than the old one, and it made sleeping feel frightening. One night, something happened that she would never forget.

In the middle of the night, Ramirez woke up out of nowhere. Her eyes were open, but her body would not move at all. Her arms and legs felt frozen. She tried to sit and look around, but nothing worked. It felt like her body was stuck, as if she were paralyzed.

She then noticed something in the top corner of her room.

There was a tall, white, scrawny figure standing there. It looked like a person, although it was faceless, too tall and scrawny to be one. The figure was very tall and thin, standing quietly in the dark with long nails. Ramirez was shocked and scared. “What is that?” she thought while staring at it.

Slowly, the figure began to move. Instead of walking on the floor, it crawled onto the wall. It started crawling up the ceiling like a spider and then onto the walls. Ramirez watched as it moved above her bed.

Her heart was beating fast, but she still could not move or speak. “Why can’t I move?” she thought, trying to wake herself up, attempting to yell for her parents.

The figure crawled down from the ceiling onto the floor, disappeared, and then slowly moved onto her. She wanted to scream, but no sound came out.

The figure then opened its mouth with huge teeth, getting closer and closer. After what felt like a long time, Ramirez was finally able to move again, and the room looked normal.
