Criminal Minds

Column: What to Binge

The show Criminal Minds focuses on the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) and how they profile and capture serial killers and other serial offenders.

I loved this series and how it shows us not only the capture of the serial killers but also what's going on in the lives of all the BAU agents. I thought that the insight into the agents' lives really kept the show interesting.

The series also depicts what made the serial killers the way they are and what events led them to snap and finally give in to their compulsions. This aspect of the show is especially interesting since not all crime tv shows do this. It's also interesting since you get some insight into the serial killers' past.

The show helps you understand that although there is no excuse for what these people did, they're still human. It explains and even shows how some of these people never really stood a chance considering the way they were brought up or mistreated in their youth. They also explain how an event could cause a person who was otherwise fine to lose it even when they never had thoughts or compulsions to hurt anybody before.

The series is accompanied by all kinds of twists and turns that you never saw coming. People you thought were safe from the infamous kill off were never actually safe. Then you reach a point in the series when you think all is well. but then boom, with one scene everything changes.

Although this can all be very sad and frustrating it’s what keeps your attention, it's what keeps you coming back for more, because you want to see all those agents finally get their happy endings. So if you are obsessed with crime, thriller, and unpredictable twists and turns, this is the show for you.
